Webdav generating 404 and 501 errors

ownCloud - Nov 2 2012
Question:I installed ownCloud 4.5.1 on a shared LAMP (Apache v2.2.22 and php v5.3.15) server.

Firefox and Crome can acces the SabreDAV server on https://server/oc/remote.php/webdav/
Owncloud Sync client or davfs2 can't.

In the apache log I see:
# using mount.davfs
client_IP - - [29/Oct/2012:07:17:54 -0700] "OPTIONS /oc/remote.php/webdav/ HTTP/1.1" 401 291 "-" "davfs2/1.4.5 neon/0.29.0"
client_IP - - [29/Oct/2012:07:17:54 -0700] "OPTIONS /oc/remote.php/webdav/ HTTP/1.1" 200 - "-" "davfs2/1.4.5 neon/0.29.0"
client_IP - - [29/Oct/2012:07:17:54 -0700] "PROPFIND /oc/remote.php/webdav/ HTTP/1.1" 404 - "-" "davfs2/1.4.5 neon/0.29.0"

On the console I see:
/sbin/mount.davfs: Mounting failed.
501 Method Not Implemented

“debug http” in .davfs2/davfs2.conf, shows the dialog
mount.davfs: Sending request headers:#012OPTIONS /oc/remote.php/webdav/ HTTP/1.1#015#012User-Agent: davfs2/1.4.5 neon/0.29.0#015#012Keep-Alive: #015#012Connection: TE, Keep-Alive#015#012TE: trailers#015#012Host: www.mydomain.be#015#012Authorization: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx#015#012#015

I followed some suggestions: "use_locks 0" or "precheck 0" but it doesn't help.

Then I installed davfs2 on a new client PC. The same problem reappeared.
Did a fresh install of owncloud 4.0.7, using a new database. Same problem...

Then I created a free account on portknox.net, a server running OC 4.0.8.
davfs2 mounts https://owncloud.portknox.net/remote.php/webdav/ perfectly...

Answer:Only GET, HEAD, POST and OPTIONS requests are honored by the webserver. PROPFIND is allowed but not implemented...

$ curl -X PROPFIND -i https://www.mydomain.be/oc/remote.php/webdav/ -k

Method Not Implemented
GET to /oc/remote.php/webdav/ not supported.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found
error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I guess my provider fine-tuned mod_security.

My provider included PROPFIND in mod_security. I'm back into business.
