User Rights - "read only" user

ownCloud - Sep 27 2011
not answered
Question:First a big "Thank You" to everyone working on owncloud.
My question: is it possible to cut down user rights? I would like to forbid a user to do the following things:
- enter the settings
- upload new files / create folders
- delete own or shared files
Is there a file (or reg) to edit accordingly?
Thank you very much,
Thomas

I've never used the application you talked about, however, I'm quite certain there must be a setting for that. In proftpd, this is the way we would limit access to removing directories, deleting files, making directories, and storing files and allow users to only read files:

<Limit READ CWD CDUP>
AllowAll
</Limit>
<Limit STOU STOR RMD DELE MKD WRITE>
DenyAll
</Limit>

Maybe there are similar settings to "owncloud". However, I could be way off.

You can usually find configuration files to your programs in the /etc folder.

Hope this helps, if not, then just ignore it.:P

I'd love this capability too; considering using this as a file repository, but it won't do much good for a "public" user to be able to delete or add their own files.
