 @#^% Unity!!

I dislike it!! Nothing can be customized with this new interface, and worst of all, it was basically shoved to our faces for everybody to use (for those of us using version 11.10). It feels as though I've been castrated...

According to this article, canonical has decided that Unity is here to stay for ubuntu:

I always liked ubuntu for the ease of setting up and supportive community. I'm still sticking to Ubuntu, but now sure for how long if this whole Unity stuff keeps going on. I guess I'll have to stick to Xcfe.

Both unity and gnome3 sucks in terms of both usability and customization and it seems as if all distros are gonna force them upon us. Ubuntu with unity and all the others with gnome3 shell. In terms of usability and the level of customization we all like and as it seems from what i've read want in our gnome desktop gnome2 is as good as it gets. Sure it could always improve at some ends but in comparison what we are forced upon gnome2 is the perfect DE. CAn't understand as to why no distro swoops in and takes all gnome2 users and keeps that DE that so many wants?!? I mean to quote Linus Torvalds that said that "gnome3 is an unholy mess and that he's now on xfce which is a step back from gnome2 to but a step up from using gnome3"

Unity : one of the most unusable compiz plugins !

Unity forces there users to use >dash< something filled with publicity and combines folders and files with launchers. When i use unity i have always a terminal open with the old midnight commander ( It is then faster to open everything).

Second disadvantage is that i can't really move the window buttons to the windows or icewm or qvwm layout.
Third disadvantage is , that i can't set the themes preferences directly like in gnome 2 , on unity i am forced to use dconf-editor and have to extract the themes in the right folder.

Another thing is that i can't use other gnome sessions with compiz when unity is installed.

At the moment i have a win7 look inspired gnome 3 session installed with avant window navigator, gnomenu, dockbarx and kernel 3.7rc2 on ubuntu 12.10 quantal.Unity is still runable on all users...

sry for my bad english )=
