XFCE application switcher lacks "active" color

by kcuzner on: Apr 4 2013

I noticed a problem in XFCE when using the application switcher: The currently selected application icon in the switcher shows no visual difference to the others. I corrected it by changing bg[ACTIVE] to match base[ACTIVE] in gtk-2.0/gtkrc. Previously all the bg[] values were the same. I have never done a gtk theme, so I have no idea if changing the background colors will break something, but something should probably be done about the lack of differentiation between the active and inactive application switcher icons in xfce.

Awesome theme, by the way. I put it on both my computers.

Also, I changed bg[PRELIGHT] and bg[SELECTED] to match the base[] values for PRELIGHT and SELECTED as well.

Thanks for the notice. I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about addressing it.

Does the theme work? Some of those CSS errors are common in a lot of themes. Some of them would require a major rewrite of this theme to resolve, which I'd do if the theme was borken for a lot of users.

Make more true to original? Please?

I love the theme but I'm just wondering if you could make the orange edges like the ones in the movie (top edge square and bottom edge cut diagonally). Also if you could make the window buttons a bit bigger that would be great. I would do it all myself but I have no idea how to.

I made one as close to the movie version as is possible: http://tinyurl.com/lmpgj3a

But it's an Emerald theme, which requires compiz. It's impossible to do in Metacity and all its forks that have become the default in a lot of distros. It's not doable in any window manager except Emerald, which is shamefully a dead project.

Resizing the buttons would be a bit of work and I'm working on another theme at the moment.

I remember the Emerald one I used to use it. :)

It's okay about the buttons just whenever you get the chance I'm already using the theme.
