Description:

Bluman is meant to be an uncreative drop-in blue replacement for the default Human themes in Ubuntu 8.04 for those wishing for another color option but enjoy the human style.

Based on the packages available in Ubuntu 8.04, I include three gtk-theme options (Bluman, Bluman-Clearlooks, Bluman-Murrine). Also included is a set of matching blue human style icons, backgrounds, gdm-themes, and a usplash-theme.

I've constructed these themes by color remixing the default files with Perl scripts. So I could in principle extend this batch of files to include other system files or other colors should there be interest in such things.

A green version is available as Greenman.

Based on the Hardy packages:
- human-icon-theme v0.28
- human-theme v0.18
- ubuntu-gdm-theme v0.29
- ubuntu-wallpapers v0.25

04/11/2008
- Based on updated Hardy defaults
- More strict following of theme organization and naming

04/20/2008
- Based on updated Hardy defaults
- Color of non-blue background elements in gtk-themes are faded at 50%
- Addition of Clearlooks and gdm themes
- Recommended background color (r,g,b) = (100,150,183)

- Addition of BlumanList gdm theme

05/13/2008

 Bluman on Intrepid

I've installed this theme on Intrepid simply recompiling it from sources.
Decompress the archive, enter in bluman-usplash-20081004/source, open a terminal and give the command "make".

After the compilation has been terminated, you'll find a file named usplash-theme-ubuntu.so: rename it in, i.e., usplash-theme-bluman.so (to keep the original usplash file from Ubuntu). Then use startupmanager (if you don't have it, install it with sudo apt-get install startupmanager or by Synaptic), to install it in the system. Open System/Administration/Startup-manager, install the new usplash-theme, set to use it instead of the original one, choose a resolution of 1024x768@16 bit, close the program, wait for it to complete the configuration of your system and restart.

To the author: can you provide a bigger resolution, i.e. 1280x1024 or 1600x1200? Today's LCDs start at 1280 so set the resolution to 1024 is a little inadequate.

 Bluman in Jaunty

Again, the trick is to compile it from source.

Install package, required for building it:

sudo apt-get install libusplash-dev

Download the Bluman-usplash package, extract it to /tmp. Go to /tmp/bluman-usplash-20081004/source:

make

Copy it to folder and rename it in the process:

sudo cp usplash-theme-ubuntu.so /usr/lib/usplash/usplash-theme-bluman.so

Continue with the usual Startup-manager procedure..

 Support for another resolution

It looks great on my laptop's 1024X900 screen but not so much on my desktop's 1440X900 screen. Could you add that resolution please?
